Wamego PD and Pott. Co. EMS responded to a possible drowning at the Wamego Aquatic Center.

Update 1 p.m., Oct. 14: A recent Manhattan High graduate has died after an accident Tuesday at the Wamego Aquatic Center.

The young man was Thomas “Wyatt” Balman, who was in the class of 2018, according to an emailed letter from Manhattan High School principal Michael Dorst. Dorst gave no details about the circumstances of the death.

No further information has been released from the City of Wamego.

Update: As of Wednesday morning, Oct. 14, the incident is still under investigation and no additional information has been released. Chief Baker said the Aquatic Center remains closed for today.

WAMEGO, Oct. 13 -- Wamego Police and Pottawatomie County EMS responded to a possible drowning at the Wamego Aquatic Center earlier this evening, according to WPD Chief Michael Baker.

Baker said the victim was transported to Wamego Community Health Center.

The incident is still under investigation and Baker said no other information will be released this evening.
