Fire Breaks Out at old Genn Hospital Building

A fire broke out in the old Genn Hospital Building in Wamego on Thursday night. According to Fire Chief Phil Stultz, the call came in at 9:06 p.m. He said that all the residents got out safely and there were no injuries. At midnight, residents were allowed back in to gather necessities and they were then being aided by the Red Cross. He added it appeared the fire was contained to Apartment 2, with smoke and water damage elsewhere. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this point and further investigation is planned for Friday.
